The Counterdocket shifts power and authority away from institutions and toward communities. It puts conventional approaches to development on trial, treating lived experience as evidence, centering women and affected communities as knowledge holders, and connecting local struggles to the global systems that shape them.
By creating a collective record rooted in people’s realities—not institutional narratives—it reimagines accountability as grounded in community knowledge, experiences, and decision making

For too long international institutions have decided whose experiences count as evidence. By building this living resource of testimonies, we are flipping that script. Lived experience is evidence and affected communities, and women at the heart of them, are the experts.
Instead of waiting for governments and international institutions to respond and act, we will document our own histories, the harm caused by extraction, connect from local struggles to global systems of power, and imagine the future that we deserve.
