Community and Partner Mobilisation Packet

Messages, prompts and practical guidance for participation and mobilisation

Using this Packet

This packet is for communities and partners who want to mobilise around the Counter Docket through their own networks, social media and local actions. Use the messages and prompts as a starting point; adapt them to your context, language, community and political realities.

You do not need to use all messages. Choose the message that best connects with your own work or story, and add your own experience, evidence, demands and examples.

The Counter Docket brings the lived experiences of women and communities into public view and puts them alongside the policies, institutions and decisions that shape those experiences.

Ideas for Local Actions

It’s time to organize from a place of HOPE!

Let’s exercise our cross-border solidarity by organizing decentralized parallel events in our own communities. Host a community dialogue, a people’s hearing, a teach-in, creative action or even your own local Counter Docket event.

This is an opportunity for us to build bridges with people from all walks of life, sharpen our collective analysis, and strengthen our movements for justice. Every local action contributes to a growing global call for accountability and feminist alternatives.

Below you can find some resources to get started in planning a variety of events, from panel discussions, art events, to a conference.

Press Release Guide

In order to maximize the exposure of your parallel events, it is important to inform local media outlets and journalists about your activities. This is a template of a press release that you can use.

Some reminders:
  • Keep it local: Have 1-2 sentences to explain the local context or project you are highlighting, and why it’s important where you are (jobs, cost, impact, etc)

  • Use a quote: It humanizes the issue and centers people and their experiences, rather than the technicalities.

  • Keep it simple: Use short sentences and have clear demands.

  • Have a clear angle: Use a specific framing and stick with it, i.e. environmental, scientific, etc.

  • Timing matters: Send the press release 3-4 days before your event, and send a reminder the day before.
