The Early Warning System (EWS), run by the International Accountability Project (IAP), equips communities with early, reliable information about development projects that may affect their lands and rights, before financing decisions are finalized. Development banks, governments, and corporations often propose projects without meaningfully involving local communities. EWS collects, verifies, and summarizes information on proposed and existing projects, then shares it with civil society partners and affected communities. Through workshops, training, and ongoing support, the EWS team helps communities organize, conduct their own research, and advocate for development that reflects their own priorities.
